Inland Empire Acoustics

is out!!! Yeah, ok, it’s just me. That’s what I’ve decided to call this so-called “demo” of mine. It’s not exactly summer-friendly(?)… despite when it was recorded. In fact I would recommend listening in a freezing cold room. Close your eyes and imagine you’re on a train, looking out the window, staring into the beautiful cityscape in <insert most desirable city that has train tracks here>, and pretend you’re being filmed for some cool, hip, avantgarde music video that will be watched by millions of Urban Outfitters and American Apparel wearing indie kids who are too cool to like U2.

OK….. just have a listen when you’re headed to bed or something. It won’t take much of your time.

Four

what goes around comes around
if you do realize what this can mean for everyone
everyone you claim to stand for

this could be another intervention
i saw the turning tide of waves, but all you can say is that it’s not me, not me, it’s you

what were you expecting?
deal or no deal, yes or no

it didn’t have to be this way
deal or no deal, yes or no

this could be another intervention
i saw the turning tide of waves, but all you can say is that it’s not me, not me, it’s you

Three

oh, it was gone
and the chances are, i lost it on the way
it was bound to happen in time

one disapproving look tells me
maybe i should reevaluate
i was tempted to pretend

some things never change
whispered uniformly, convincingly as you can
another self-indulgence in play

but i want you to know
memories never do real justice to the truth
sign of imperfection in hand

tomorrow is another day that you
tell yourself that you’ve grown up
another self-indulgence in play

as you know i love you very much
you said as words traveled apart
sign of imperfection in hand

’cause you never understood
came out of little boxes that you chose
this is our new invention

truth hurts where it goes
for someone smart enough
who’s in charge in here?

girly girls won’t stop
delusional complacency

“The sea’s only gifts are harsh blows, and, occasionally, the chance to feel strong. Now, I don’t know much about the sea, but I do know that that’s the way it is here. And I also know how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong, but to feel strong, to measure yourself at least once, to find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions, facing the blind, deaf stone alone with nothing to help you but your hands and your own head.” -Into the Wild

Korean Baseball Wins Gold!

Sweet, 9 wins and no loss! That double play should have pissed of lots of Cubans.

Pineapple Express & Tropic Thunder

P.E. LOL @ “Let’s face it, you’re going to go to college next year and start listening to Godspeed You Black Emperor! and The Shins and become a lesbian..”

Tropic Thunder That was a nice surprise from Tom Cruise, regardless of how much of an asshole he is in real life.

SHUT THE FUCK UP

–during Faust Arp in Vancouver the other day. Please watch if you got 2 mins to spare.

Women spend 3,276 hours getting ready

Look here. First sentence:

The time women spend putting on make up and getting dressed works out at 3,276 hours over their lifetimes while men only devote 1,092 hours to looking their best.

Note that I am only putting this up in order to highlight the best comment of the day:

I would have been interested to know how this compares to men. I have an idea that it’s no where close, but the numbers would have been nice to have. -Noah Duffy on August 19, 2008 at 06:40 AM

Oh Shit–New Bloc Party This Thursday!

Didn’t see this one coming! I’m gonna go buy myself one now.

Watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall Again

Great. Judd Apatow is great. And Mila Kunis.

Not sure why they’re releasing it on DVD so late, but they’ve been all over the interweb anyway.
