Death is her boyfriend
She spits on summers and smiles to the night
She collects crowns made of black roses
But her heart is made of bubble gum

Graveyard girl

Dark rags and red stars
She’s the dirty witch of her high school
She worships Satan like a father
But dreams of a sister like Molly Ringwald

“I’m gonna jump the walls and run
I wonder if they’ll miss me?
I won’t miss them.
The cemetery is my home
I want to be a part of it,
Invisible even to the night.
Then I’ll read poetry to the stones
Maybe one day I could be one of them…
Wise and silent.
Waiting for someone to love me.
Waiting for someone to kiss me.
I’m fifteen years old
And I feel it’s already too late to live.
Don’t you?”

I can’t help my love
For Graveyard Girl.

Who? LOL. Her politics isn’t interesting, nor do I agree with. But I think it’s a smart move by McCain. I mean, just for the sake of watching the reaction from the left, it was worth it:

1. Bill Burton: “John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.” What is the point of saying this? First small town America “clings to guns and religion” and now this? What the fuck do you guys have against small towns?

2. Pretty much everyone is essentially saying that VP position is “a heartbeat away from the Presidency, and Palin has no experience.” I guess they are feeling compelled to say this because McCain’s campaign has been using the same line of attack on Obama for his inexperience. Now that McCain picked Palin, they’re all jumping on the wagon saying “Gotcha!” But in reality, Palin has more executive experience than Obama (and on an unrelated note, she didn’t use her husband as a leverage). Who’s the one that wanted to hold unconditional talks with dictators just a few months ago? Yeah… and he’s running for PRESIDENT for God’s sake, not VP. The more they want to talk about this so called “experience,” the more it’ll hurt their candidate.

3. John Roberts is afraid that when Palin becomes VP she will “neglect her children.” Okay, you might as well tell her to go back to her kitchen and make you a fucking sandwich.

4. Keith Boykin calls Palin “an affirmative action pick.” A CRITICISM coming from a DEM. Just…. priceless.

You do it to yourself, you do
And that’s what really hurts
Is that you do it to yourself
Just you and no-one else
You do it to yourself

–Radiohead, “Just” (The Bends, 1995)

I was telling my friends yesterday, even after seeing Radiohead in (the legendary) Hollywood Bowl, I still wish I could go to their Santa Barbara show tonight (It’s the last North American show), since it’s relatively close! Well, it turns out the band will be streaming the entire show live through radiohead.tv:

Hello! To celebrate the end of a brilliant tour, we’re going to webcast the last show here in America. We’ll be playing live in Santa Barbara, at the Bowl. It’s one of our favourite places to play; I think we’ve ended tours there before, once even playing a cover of ‘ cinnamon girl ‘. It’s not too big, in fact it’s very intimate, a small arena with a dirt floor, set in pretty countryside. It should be a special night, for lots of reasons, and we’re going to try and share as much of it as we can on the webcast. Nigel, our producer, will be helping out getting it to you, so if it goes wrong….It’s live!

Thank you so much to everyone who’s come and seen us this year; it has truly been the most special and exciting tour for all of us.

Webcast details to follow…
In fact I would recommend listening in a freezing cold room. Close your eyes and imagine you’re on a train, looking out the window, staring into the beautiful cityscape in <insert most desirable city that has train tracks here>, and pretend you’re being filmed for some cool, hip, avantgarde music video that will be watched by millions of Urban Outfitters and American Apparel wearing indie kids who are too cool to like U2.

OK….. just have a listen when you’re headed to bed or something. It won’t take much of your time.
